Jute isn't quite as strong as hemp but works very well when vertical trellising light and medium-weight fruiting crops like cherry tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans, or any horizontal trellising. When vertical trellising the heaviest fruiting crops like slicing tomatoes, melons and squash, consider using hemp twine or adding several pieces of jute per plant.
At the end of the season, simply cut down the twine and throw everything into the compost!
